Manila’s stylish set recently gathered at White Space for the Magnum VIP party hosted by Selecta. The evening began with cocktails and canapés by Bizu, followed by a warm performance by The Techy Romantics.
( White Space was packed!)
Three hours and seven glasses of Grey Goose on the rocks later, I caught myself dancing to DJ Kid Fresh’s music. In fact, some guests partied till three in the morning.
On the other side of the spectrum, I have spotted a couple of sartorial standouts in fancy dandy to effortless knit pullover.
(Carlo Concepcion did not let that pocket square go bare!)
(Anne Bella reminded me of an afternoon with Lilly Pulitzer )
(Alden Richards and a dash of dandy)
(Kaye Chua - Tinga always look put together!)
(Mike Concepcion looking all preppy in his green pendleton blazer)
(Mark Schulze = Williamsburg hipster. Enough said! )
(Marco Lobregat looking all crisp and suave)
(Marco Lobregat and Phoemela Baranda all laced up )
(Marco and Rosanna Rodriguez)
(Prince of Dandy, Sidney Yap in purple and a puffy pocket square)

SPRING CLEANING AND SHORT SHORTS
I have never thought of going local but I guess Rajo Laurel’s “Athletenique” line is an exemption.
(Splat it!)
His “Athletenique” line is a series of polished and put-together menswear ensembles in pastel, navy shorts, purple detailed blazer and fuschia and orange baracuta jacket that are crisp and clean and yes, offering plenty of complementary pieces to play mix and match with your ever reliable basics.
(Athletenique Spring / Summer 2012 by Rajoman)
People who know me know that I am a big fan of all things classic and preppy but hey, I can be fun sometimes with the way I dress.
I have spotted a number of standout pieces from Rajo’s "Athletenique" line, all embracing a sophisticated and modern look while still maintaining a hint of casualness.
I just wish they’d fit me! *fingers crossed* a few more pounds!

TECHNOMARINE KNOCKOUT THURSDAY
Well dressed celebrities, politicians and notable figures in Philippine society all gathered at the breezy Penthouse of W for the launch of TechnoMarine’s limited edition Manny Paquiao (MP8) watch. The venue was tinted with a spectrum of red, blue and yellow centered by a mini boxing ring at the launch.
(Ateneo Basketball Player and Anton del Rosario of the Philippine Azkals)
The MP8 takes inspiration from the country’s very own boxing hero and his unprecedented global achievements with evident eye-catching features prominently standing out on the face of the watch.
(The “8” dial symbolizes Pacquiao’s eight world boxing championship titles alongside a yellow sun. The additional red and blue details that accentuate the silver dial, giving the MP8 an unmistakable Filipino connection, retaining the signature wave pattern alluding to the water element that has become TechnoMarine’s signature look. )
The TechnoMarine MP8 is more than just another bold statement in watch-making. It underlies a timely partnership between an esteemed luxury brand and one of the world’s accomplished professional athletes. This partnership amplifies the brand’s innovative spirit – one that fuses bold designs with the luxury of a fine Swiss watch.
(Mons Romulo of the Philippine Star, Erwin Romulo of Esquire, Chris Albert of FILA, FASH' Ferdie Salvador and Tim Yap.)
This timepiece is very limited with only 1,000 pieces that will be produced worldwide – not bad!

BASIC MATTER 33: THE PERFECT STURDY LAPTOP BAG
It has been almost four weeks since my last post and the past few weekends have been a blur from too much partying after I handed over my resignation at my previous firm to getting a tan at the beach and my first ten days at my new firm. My head is literally spinning now!
Thank god for online shopping, I finally got the cordura-type laptop bag I ordered from Yoshida Porter.
(Not bad for Y29,925!)
It is a replacement from the laptop bag my new firm handed over that I refused to carry around.
Pretty sturdy – yes! It has deep inner pockets that can contain all the necessaries for a whip around the metro from pens to Moleskine, Loose change to notes from my boss.
I couldn't stop smiling – I am simple that way!
And oh, didn't I tell you I just lost 11 lbs!
