WHEN 36 DEGREES ISN'T ENOUGH

Last weekend, my sister and I finally headed down south for that much needed weekend just worshiping the sun and getting ourselves toasted in 36 degrees heat.

(Relaxing day at the beach with these stylish and preppy swim trunks from Tommy Hilfiger)

No, we did not pack up our L.L. Bean tote but guess what, there is always our trusty J. Crew Kelly green tote and tracks from Vampire Weekend and Two Door Cinema Club to keep us bouncy whole weekend.

(Here's what I packed with me:  J. Crew Kelly green tote, espadrilles and my trusty straw hat from Florence)

(And yes,  here's what I wore to the beach: Purple trunks from Speedo, Espadrilles, white linen shirt, preppy nato straps and leather bracelet from Guam - a gift from my officemate)

TAN LINES AND STARS

No matter how I love the metropolis, it is always good if there’s room to make a quick escape. The wide open fields, the beach and the dirt road - all can be reached in a little over an hour. Trust me, the Urban rurality can really lift someone’s spirit and oh, the beach isn’t a place for jigglers and danglers – go get a room!

... I ended up searching for Mr. Hermit Crab!

TOASTED ISLAND BOY AND SOME PINK SAND

There was rejoicing last Tuesday discovering a 4 kilometer stretch of pink sand, corals and more, snorkeled along the reef and was doing lots of whacking just 15 minutes away from laidback Zamboanga. I caught myself enjoying the sun and the sand, including the bizarre, but typical, moment at which I went from a happy laughing face to dramatic contortion and fussy grumpiness, for no apparent reason.

Sta. Cruz Islands is approximately six kilometers off the coast south of Zamboanga City, situated within the Basilan Straight. Both islands and its surrounding environs have been declared a national marine sanctuary and both of which are surrounded by coral reefs. The island is known for its pink - colored beach which was formed by the coral bits that were washed ashore.
