MUSIC : LOCKSLEY

Listening to Locksley’s music made it easy for me to stay smitten the entire day.

(Locksley perform "The Whip" for Brooklyn Bugle Sessions.)

Aside from being heavily influenced by early British Invasion bands with an instrumental style based more on early American punk bands and modern garage rock groups, their style’s just spot on landing them an 8-page fashion spread in ELLE.

Those pair of red socks and saddle shoes – totally sick!

MUSIC : WHITE TREES

(White Trees)

I just got myself a copy of Bear Trees and Spaghetti Brains by the White Trees and I couldn’t stop myself from playing Going up Slowly, Dog Fiction, Bear Trees and Around the Table - all four has been on repeat since Saturday.

Hardly slumber-inducing, the songs play from dreamy soft tempos perfect for lazy afternoons at home to surprisingly trippy road trips.

Can someone drive me to the moon?

IVY LEAGUE + EAST COAST PREPPY = CHESTER FRENCH

Photobucket
You got it right! They're both from Harvard. Music history savants Chester French seem to project themselves as an obvious choice for the new big thing and check out their Beach Boys-infused, Joe Jackson-inspired, hodge-podge indie rock and 1960s swagger style – perfecto!

MUST CLOSE MY EYES AND DREAM

Been listening to Lullatone, an art and music group for the past two days thanks to Aron's blog, their music is pure magic. I’m particularly loving leaves falling.

RAINY DAY MUSIC

Photobucket
Photobucket
It has been consistently raining here in the metro for the past few days and what better way to pay tribute to June showers than to feature “The Dorques”. A perfect mix of cheerfulness and sweetness, They make me think of mushrooms popping out the ground and neon lights of the metro reflecting off the gray pavement at night - they really cheer me up.

My rainy day playlist:
- Le Metronome
- Just Like Honey
- Waltzing Away
- Sun
- and Murasaki Blue

And ohh, always come prepared. Umbrella from Paul Smith / photos from The Dorques' myspace page.

DOWN AND CRAPPY (not my usual post)

Normally I'm not like this, but the past week or so I've been feeling really down. Pupu left last week and will be in Baltimore for four weeks for an operation and my little sister who left yesterday just added up to everything. I hate staring at an empty bed next to mine – totally not fun!

Listening to Paper Brain, a pop-y indie rock trio based out of Portland, Oregon.

TEETER TOTTER RAINY FRIDAY

Spin three times and find yourself falling in love with Hayley Kiyoko. I have played this over and over since my sister sent it to me this morning.
