SAILBOAT WEEKEND AND SEERSUCKERS

My sister and I spent the weekend at the yacht club, getting our much needed tan from the afternoon sun while waiting for the sun to set.



No, we didn’t toast for victory and no, the wind wasn’t blowing 22 knots nor did we go behind the buoy. I got 3 shades darker though.

HITTING THE BULLS EYE

Michael Bastian outdid himself again this year.



His latest fall collection had models with a degree of facial hair sporting fusty-cool updates on American classics - lean, tan pinstriped suit over a gingham shirt and popped collar plaid underneath country cardigans. Yes,Michael Bastian is all about good taste done subtly.

BASIC MATTER 23: THE PREPPY WARDROBE

Time to edit your wardrobe with the right basics like classic chinos, polos in pink, Kelly and lime green, white and powder blue, Bermudas and bespoke slim shorts for the weekend, a comfortable cashmere pullover for that random trip down south or at the country club and yes, loafers and Sperry’s!

Wrap that pullover casually around your shoulders and tadah! Sprezzatura!

A little bit of swagger helps too! Remember, it is all about class, elegance, and yes, neatness.

BASIC MATTER 28: BRIGHT RED SOCKS

Worn at just the right moment, a pair of red socks can make a so-so day spectacular - TRUST ME!.
