THOMAS WONG
Some people are very in-tuned with what type of shapes look good on them. For guys, this would translate into not wearing a jacket one size bigger than your normal size, or trousers with multiple pleats. I love the idea of a casual sports jackets worn in a very easy way on a casual day.

DIY PROJECT - MAKING THE CUT
What do you do when bored on a Saturday night at home? One of the things I do best is recreating my clothes. Dig out those trousers you have been holding onto and increase your wardrobe.
Take out your old jeans, lay them out flat on the table and measure the length you'd like your shorts to be (Tailored shorts should graze the top of your knee and frame your thigh).
Make sure you cut as straight as possible and try to use scissors that are sharp or you'll be struggling through the material.
sew
Here is the result.
Also, driving moccasins has been my default weekend shoes.
What do you then when you're bored?

MOVING OUT AND ROISIN MURPHY
I’m finally moving out of my pad next month and moving in to a new space nearby with my sister. I want to keep my space simple, artsy chic (probably a mini art gallery ) and spacious with a couple of key pieces ( Vintage finds from Cubao Expo, Evangelista and Retiro). An easy way to liven up your wall is to put all your favorite pictures into little clip frames and then group them together.
The image above from Danielle de Lange shows a great selection of simple photo frames with black and white photos. Ikea in Makati, the Landmark, Rustans and Dimensione sells a good selection of frames.
Side note: currently listening to Night of the dancing flame. Roisin Murphy is love!

BASIC MATTER: PLAYING OXFORD
With the weather holding cool-ish in Manila, I was certainly singing in the rain. I had hoped to get one more outing for my cashmere pullovers and my parka jacket for this month. But on donning it this morning in front of my mirror convinced me that the jacket's season is definitely over until typhoon season this June, so to the dry cleaners it goes.
I am going to get a full length mirror soon. Should I lose my beard? Not yet!
MY SUMMER LIST:
Basic oxfords
Sexy loafers from the tag team effort of Raf Simmons and Fred Perry. They come in red and black and the collaborative logo has been placed on the inner sole.
Espadrilles, Canvas everyday tote big enough to carry everything and a nice preppy grosgrain belt
and denim trousers from A.P.C

YOUTH CONCENTRATE IN A JAR
I believe I’m loaded with fine lines and wrinkles at 26. I noticed some wrinkling on my forehead (I probably squint too much) and decided to rush to Powerplant to look for an anti-aging cream to cure my oh so dry skin.
Here’s what I found and I’m loving it.
It’s supposed to provide moisture for immediate comfort, while also fighting the aging process by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The cream is thick, so I've always been very light with the application. Just a dab on each cheek, a dab on the forehead, and a couple dabs on the chin and neck, and a quick massage throughout the face.

SHARK BITE NOUVEAU PREP
Beyond thrift shops, Rustans, Shoemart, etc, what was my first ‘fashion awareness’? Seeing the movie ‘Jaws’ during the 80’s. I idolized the preppy New England look when I was 7 and now I’m pretty much nouveau preppy.
And yes, I want a bike for summer.
More closet update?

PREPPY MONDAY
ELAINE STA.MARIA ( Buyer - Paul Smith, Fred Perry, Dotdotdot)
I love the idea of making a bold statement with her white Fred Perry canvas sneaks -especially when the rest of the outfit is neutral. Everything about Elaine is perfect!
January slowly slipped away from our frozen fingers as we fall deeper into the heat of summer and I am developing a deep emotional relationship with the canvas sneaks I saw earlier at Fred Perry. I tried them on (Thanks Elaine!) and wearing them is like putting your feet under a sleeping dog or into a pillow filled pillowcase.

COLOR BLOCK
DRAWN TO PACITA
Discovering Pacita Abad ( A gift from Basco, Batanes), Graphic appeal – superpowers I used to have my therapist took away. I’m drawn! Her work’s totally offbeat and also very calm ( an exuberant combination of circles and stripes). Thank you Pup for the books you got me.
FLOWER POWER
I love a good purchase. Very few things fill me such ecstatic joy than seeing a pair of beautifully made socks from Paul Smith (Thank you guys for the friendly discount). Yesterday, I almost wet my briefs with excitement.(haha)
Socks: Paul Smith
Shoes: my 2 year old Carbon work shoes

Regatta
14X17 OIL ON CANVAS
by: Raul Ramon Lopez-Vito Bucoy II
The Regatta de Zamboanga is a boat race intended to present to the world the beauty of the vinta. The sails and hulls, often along with the participants, are clad in bright and colorful outfits, which complement the party like atmosphere.
The vinta ( locally known as lepa-lepa or sakayan) is a traditional boat found in the Philippine island of Mindanao. These boats are made by Bajao lining in the Sulu Archipelago. It has a sail with assorted vertical colors that represents the colorful culture and history of the Muslim community. These boats are used for inter-island transport of people and goods. Zamboanga City is known for these vessels
My paintings depict the colorful culture in southern Philippines. I’m very pleased with how things are going and I really enjoyed exploring all the patterns and subtle color shifts. I will definitely be doing larger ones and maybe even some more square ones this year - while they do take a long time, the end result is amazing. I have to be careful not to get lost in the patterns and remember to step back and make sure it’s working from a distance too. It’s easy to get lost in making beautiful shapes
