ON MENSWEAR AND 30 MODEL SET CARDS LATER

It has been a week since I last posted.

Friday, The unofficial end of my week. NOT! Three tropical typhoons, 30 model set cards and a stampede of workload after, I am still at my desk trying to figure out how this online time entry works.

Photobucket

On the brighter side, my day was punctuated by a copy of the broadsheet my friend sent via courier with the article I wrote a few weeks back on menswear and getting it right. Hah!

I still have another article due y mi día no ha terminado todavía! Can someone get me a glass of martini!

Anyone?

ALL THINGS PRETTY ARE NOT MIXY-MATCHY

Photobucket
(Joan Cantemprate, Bag Designer)

Joan was such a trooper when I asked to take a photo of her yesterday at Fred Perry.

I have always liked how she doesn’t really cling to fancy dresses and makeup like the last life jacket on the sinking ship of life and a couple of times strangely put together without creating a complete psychedelic chaos.

She definitely is rare and original.

A few hours later, I got myself a pair of really cheap but ultra comfortable espadrilles. It’s official, I’m reviving them from last year’s color frenzy.

Photobucket
(Bespoke linen shorts and espadrilles = Summer love)

I may have completely turned into Mi Abuelito but hey, they’re a great alternative to flip-flops which really don't look good on some men.

TRILOGY: REDEFINING RETAIL THERAPY

Shopping and great spaces are just about my favorite things. It lightens my load and lifts my heart when I can fit both into a single trip. Thank god for lazy Sundays, I decided to tag along with Philip to check out Trilogy+Canteen.

Trilogy+Canteen is a happy blend of fashion, lifestyle and food, and is finding favor with the seriously stylish. A sleek nod to a neighborhood dominated by modern office buildings, the store includes a retail area and a CANTEEN – a pretty unique set-up in the city.

Also, drop by CANTEEN for some pasta chamba, the best CHOCNUT icecream, insalata uva and french onion soup, plus they serve lavazza coffee (double treat!)

Trilogy+Canteen is located at G/F 110 Alvion Center, Rada Street, Legaspi Village. Makati

MOHAWK MANILA STYLE

Many active men like me prefer easy hairstyle that looks great with little maintenance year round but not my friend Carlo. I was cleaning up my archive last night and found a photo oh him I took at a friends Easter party.

It is not a look most guys can pull off but he definitely did and yes, it makes a pretty bold statement.

FLORAL AND BALLET FLATS

Liza Ilarde-Cuenca
Editor-in-Chief
Travelife

I just had to take a photo of Liza after our media event earlier. Liza is divine, classic, feminine and very well put together. She’s possibly one of the best dressed editors in the metro.

PREPPY MONDAY

Photobucket
ELAINE STA.MARIA ( Buyer - Paul Smith, Fred Perry, Dotdotdot)

I love the idea of making a bold statement with her white Fred Perry canvas sneaks -especially when the rest of the outfit is neutral. Everything about Elaine is perfect!

January slowly slipped away from our frozen fingers as we fall deeper into the heat of summer and I am developing a deep emotional relationship with the canvas sneaks I saw earlier at Fred Perry. I tried them on (Thanks Elaine!) and wearing them is like putting your feet under a sleeping dog or into a pillow filled pillowcase.

WEEKEND STRESS AND DOT ONE

I pulled out all the magazines underneath my bed and I’m still up. Three glasses of non-fat milk and my eyes are still owl-like.

I am still freaking out and it has been over two hours and thirty minutes. The long drive from Tagaytay over the weekend was stressful for a single serving of pineapple pie and brewed coffee. I know I didn't screw things up but the stress of it all is just driving me nuts and I hope it ends on a good note. I just have to get it out of my head – I can’t afford waking up drowsy the next day.

Anyway, Dotdotdot just turned One ! Last year’s launch was right on the same day as the Manila Pen siege leading the entire mall closing around three in the afternoon. Only a handful were left inside Pia Y Damaso ( meaning, Us! Haha) - (Photos from http://www.dotshop.blogspot.com/)

ELEY KISHIMOTO AT DOTDOTDOT

There's always been something playful about Eley Kishimoto - floral sundress with matching stockings or a navy shirtdress with a pin tucked waist, pieces that suggested innocence.

Eley Kishimoto in the Philippines is exclusively distributed by Trio Marketing Ventures ( Paul Smith, DotDotDot, Ben Sherman etc.)

HIGH-LOW MIX FASHION HEROIN

Dressing in head-to-toe monochrome can be really stylish and sophisticated as long as looks good on you. These days, having your own distinct personal style is the new trend in fashion.

With a pinch of creativity, DIY and vintage shopping is the best alternative to saving yourself from unwanted cash flow.
Crisp, fresh and modern – it’s like fashion heroin, you’ll do anything to wear it daily.

SUNDAY SERVICE PREP

Spotted - Sunday service preppy flats ( Crizia Nicole Po, Communications Grad). I love the creativity and the color of her shoes that just makes the outfit, it looks like she painted them herself. The overall effect reminds me of a country floral wallpaper and dip and dots ice cream I ate over the weekend. Adorable!

GET HAPPY AND LUCY IN THE SKY - eclectic at its best

Her line has paved the way to genuine happiness with inspirations from Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dali and Filipino artist, Pacita Abad.

Get Happy and Lucy in the Sky evoke a sense of happiness and pride, as well as appreciation for local ingenuity and craftsmanship. She gives her designs the flexibility and versatility that appeals to the young, fun, and whimsical customer, as well as to the more mature, urbane sophisticates.

TRYING TO BE CREATIVE ON A RAINY SATURDAY

Mood: trying to be creative again on a rainy Sunday. To evolve is to continue to breathe creatively. What inspires me to write, paint and scribble? I am inspired by figures who encourage radical rethinking, It’s kinda whatever I am thinking about. I just do whatever, perhaps this spontaneous approach explains the occasional nonsensical line about President Arroyo donning pink lace underwear: lying to the people, and we don’t care because you’re the one in pink underwear.

Paul Smith Swirled Isobel Handbag sighting!

Paul Smith Swirled Isobel Handbag sighting! A handbag of this size with a pattern like this walks a fine line between cute and kitschy, so it all depends on the owner’s outfit. It’s a bit psychedelic for most people, but that’s just part of its charm.

SUNDAY SERVICE CHIC

I thought she was wearing a nice linen top with frills and fabric flowers but quickly realized they were perfectly knitted vintage bohemian top. Joy looks so natural ,comfortable and stylish! This is what beauty is all about, not who can cover themselves in the greatest number of designer labels.
